The AFC Lightning FIFA20 Tournament (or “Competition”) is a video game competition conducted by AFC Lightning using EA SPORTS FIFA20 (“FIFA20”) for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles (“Supported Platforms”). The event will have a separate Competition for each Supported Platform (“Xbox Division”, “PlayStation Division” or “Divisions”) and each is governed by these AFC Lightning FIFA20 Official Rules (“Official Rules”).


Players must register at to be considered for eligibility for the Competition. Players that meet the eligibility requirements in this Section (individually, a “Player” or "Competitor”) must:

  • Own or have access to FIFA 20 on Xbox One or PlayStation 4;
  • Have a valid Gamertag or PSN ID;
  • Meet the age requirement described in Sections 2.2.


Players must register at to be considered for participation in the Competition.

Players may register during the following registration window:

  • From May 15th at 9:00 AM to May 27th, 2020 at 5:00 PM

These Official Rules may be updated as necessary during the Competition to add further clarity, correct errors, comply with changes in applicable law, or address matters that arise after the first publication. The goal of any updates will be to ensure a fair event for all Competitors. 


To be eligible to participate in the event, Competitors must be at least 8 years old at the time of registration.


Players may register and compete on a Supported Platform using a single account for each gaming system. The PSN account and Xbox account for their respective platforms may share a single EA account.


Periodically, the standings and match data are audited for malicious behavior and cheating. Any Player may be disqualified immediately from the AFC Lightning FIFA20 Tournament and further competitions, at the discretion of AFC Lightning or its designees, for any reason, including for any failure to comply with the Code of Conduct (see Appendix A), which may include but is not limited to:

  • using any cheats, hacks or other third-party "helper" applications in playing the game;
  • intentionally disconnecting from the Internet during any game;
  • colluding with other players in playing games;
  • taking advantage of known exploits in the game (it is the responsibility of players to understand and avoid all current illegal exploits).

Abusive or disorderly behavior, including any use of harassing, negative, or profane language online, will not be tolerated and will also constitute grounds for disciplinary action.

AFC Lightning reserves the right to take any disciplinary action, including but not limited to disqualifying any Player at any time, in its sole discretion.


Each event will have two separate divisions: the Xbox One Division and PlayStation 4 Division. Prizes will be awarded to the Champion and Finalist of each Supported Platform.

By accepting a prize, Competitors grant AFC Lightning the right to use their personal information, and any other information provided by Competitors, without further consent or compensation to Competitors, for marketing and promotional purposes.


The below Code of Conduct applies to all Competitors in the AFC Lightning FIFA20 Tournament at all levels of the Competition, unless otherwise specified. AFC Lightning reserves the right to levy penalties or disqualify any Competitor in violation of this Code of Conduct, in its sole discretion.


Players must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner, maintaining an appropriate and respectful demeanor to spectators, tournament administrators, and to other Players. These requirements apply to online interactions, including social media conduct and activity on live streams. All Players are expected to adhere to these standards of sportsmanship, including when not participating in AFC Lightning-sponsored events.


Collusion is defined as any agreement among two or more Players to disadvantage other Players in the Competition. Collusion between Players is strictly prohibited. Any Players determined by AFC Lightning at any point in the Competition to be engaging in collusion will be removed from the Competition.

Examples of collusion include, but are not limited to:

  • Intentionally losing a match for any reason.
  • Playing on behalf of another Competitor.
  • Any form of match-fixing.
  • “Soft play,” defined as a Player not giving their best effort in order to allow an opponent to run up the score and gain a Goal Differential advantage.


Competitors must maintain an adequate level of respect toward other Competitors and tournament administrators during all Events. Prohibited conduct at Events includes, but is not limited to:

  • Using vulgar or offensive language;
  • Abusive behavior, including harassment and verbal threats;
  • Physical abuse, fighting, or any other threatening action directed at any Player, spectator, official or any other person;
  • Damage and/or abuse to game consoles, or the controller.


Violation of this Code of Conduct will, at AFC Lightning's election, result in (a) penalty(ies) and/or (b) loss of winner status. All decisions and rulings by AFC Lighting relating to the Competition are final and binding. AFC Lightning reserves the right to penalize any Player in the Competition at any level, at any time for any reason. Penalties may include, in no particular order, any or all of the following:

  • Warning
  • Final Warning
  • Forfeiture of single match
  • Forfeiture of all matches
  • Loss of awards (including prize money)
  • Suspension from AFC Lightning eSports Events

AFC Lightning also has the right to publicly announce penalties that have been levied on Players, and such Players hereby waive any right of legal action against the Competition, and AFC Lightning, and any of its affiliates.


Competitors will be asked to select a unique name to identify themselves for the Competition. This name can be the same as their PSN ID or XBL Gamertag. The name must be unique from other Competitor names and must not be deemed vulgar by AFC Lightning and its affiliates.




All online matches will use the retail version of FIFA 20 Online game mode. Players will have to add each other as Friends in the 1st party platform prior to playing. The default settings of the mode will be enforced automatically by the game, including difficulty level and allowable assists.

Additional guidelines that apply to all Online Matches:

  • Training Items are not allowed.
  • Players should record all their matches using the built-in recording on their console or external recording device, these should be saved and available to be uploaded in case of dispute.
  • Players should not harass, message or in any way attempt to distract or direct others to distract their opponents.
  • Players should not manipulate their internet connection to negatively affect their or their opponent’s connection or gameplay.
  • Players should each have a light-colored jersey and a dark colored jersey and should choose the opposite of one another to avoid confusion. 
  • In the event of a disconnect, the game should be resumed with an implied score and the remaining time in the match played out.
  • Players will need to be available during Scheduling Windows to play their matches. The information will be made available on and via email to eligible Players.
  • Players should be prepared to report their scores immediately.
