David Chadwick, 63, commonly known by his nickname Chaddy, will retire from the AFC Lightning Soccer Club in June 2007.
Hired back in 1990 by the AFC Lightning President, Mr. Steve Weeman, Chaddy has served as Director of Coaching and Technical Director for 16 years. He has helped shape and pioneer AFC Lightning into one of the most respected and successful youth soccer clubs in the USA today.
Some of Chaddy's highlights with AFC Lightning include:
Chaddy, who owns his own Manufacturers Rep. company, and his wife Judy, who will also be retiring from Braelinn Elementary as a third grade teacher, have resided in Peachtree City for 17 years. They have 3 children, Andrew, Jenny and Katie, and 4 grandchildren - 3 of them triplets - all girls.
"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve a great club like AFC Lightning for the past 16 years", said Chaddy, "and I am very proud of the many accomplishments that our players on the south side of Atlanta have achieved".
Having 5 players drafted into Major League Soccer; one player-Clint Mathis, playing in the World Cup; two players drafted into the old WUSA league; and the many soccer scholarships that players have received.
Chaddy and Judy will move north to Forsyth County, where they will be closer to their children and grandchildren.
