Lightning opened the weekend against Cobb YMCA Strikers and struggled during their first game of the year, and were defeated by a result of 3-2.

However, the boys would bounce back in a big way.  In the second game against Dacula, the boys really stepped it up, and won 4-0.  The win gave the team enough points to reach the semfinals.

Sunday morning, was against Concorde Fire Black.  It was a well played game by Lightning and they were rewarded on the scoreboard with another shut out and a final score of 3-0.

The championship was against West Georgia FC and as reported, "it was a very exciting game".   AFC Lightning was able to get the early lead and take a 1-0 lead at the half.  In the middle of the second half WGFC tied it at 1-1.

The teams competed for the rest of regulation and a 10 minute over time with each team scoring a goal each.  AFC's came in the last minute of overtime and sent the game to penalties.  The penalties were tied when WGFC missed their 5th penalty.  Lightning converted their last penalty and brought home the title!
