- Requests for changing a game will only be handled by email. Phone messages will not be answered. Email your request to me, Bryan McDermott at bgmcd@earthlink.net.
- The following information must be provided about the original game:
- Date, Time and Field of the original game
- Age group and level of the game
- Name of the home team. Lightning teams should include their year and color.
- Name of the opposing team
- The following must be provided about the time to which you want the game moved:
- Preferred date or dates in order of preference
- Preferred time of day
- Requests for a game to be played during the week (Monday Thursday) need to go through your coordinator (Rec) or Brian Kohen (Lightning). I only have control of the fields on weekends. Once you have secured the field for a midweek game, I must then be contacted to get referees.
- Requests for a game change must be made no less 12 days prior to the originally scheduled date or on the Wednesday that falls one and a half weeks before the game date.
- Requests falling after that time will be subject to a fine equal to the cost of referees plus booking fee rounded up to the nearest five dollars. Fines for Recreation games will be paid to FCYSL. Fines for Select games will be paid to Lightning Soccer.
- Rescheduling will not be entertained until word is received from the FCYSL treasurer or the Lightning Executive Director that the fine has been paid.
- Referees will not be assigned for late requests until all other games have been assigned. There is no guarantee that referees will be available for games requested late.
- Please make sure that opposing teams who call to reschedule are made aware of these procedures. Their ignorance will not be taken as an excuse to waive the fines nor honor the request.
- For select teams remember that it is your responsibility to get permission from your coordinator or scorekeeper to change the game. Failure to do so can lead to both teams being awarded no points regardless of the outcome of the game.
These guidelines may seem harsh, but with the average number of games per weekend rising from about 35 last year to over 60 now, we can no longer cater to last minute changes. Referee assigning is done mostly by email, thus the need for such a big lead time. Games are usually assigned a week in advance. Our policy is that once a referee is assigned to a game he will be paid unless there is a rain out. Last minute changes also affect the referees who play, often causing them to have to turn back games that they have already accepted.
