Mike Williamson joins the AFC Lightning Coaching Staff from GSA (Gwinnett Soccer Association). Mike’s 15 years of experience includes coaching various levels of youth soccer including R3PL, all levels of Classic and Athena as well as High School (Brookwood High School).

Mike also has extensive experience in taking teams abroad for International experience and has led teams to win prestigious Tournaments such as the Manchester United Football Festival and the Ian Rush Classic. He has led teams to 10 State Division Championships and 3 State Cup Championships. He also led his 1985 Boys Team to victory at the Nike Cup SE Regional before moving on to compete in the North American Finals. He has coached and mentored more than 60 players into the college ranks.

Mike played youth soccer in New Jersey, Florida and Ohio before moving on to the collegiate level where he played for Nova University in Florida. He currently holds the United States Soccer Federation’s National ‘B’ license along with the NSCAA National license.

Mike is the proud father of five children. Three played in college and four of the five now hold degrees. His son Stephen was a member of the U-17 US National Team and was also a member of the 1998 AFC Lightning USYSA National Championship Team where he scored the winning goal in the Final! His son Travis also played at Lightning where his team won two consecutive State Cups. His three daughters are Alissa, Brittany and Hollie.
