Kristen Rutland

Former University of Massachusetts goalkeeper, Kristen Rutland begins her first year as coach at her former club, AFC Lightning.  She brings an impressive resume of coaching and playing at all levels of soccer with her.

She holds an NSCAA Advanced National Coaching Diploma, an NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Coaching Diploma, and a USSF National “C” license. Kristen is in her 5th year as a staff coach with Tony Di Cicco’s Soccer Plus Goalkeeper School. She is a staff coach for the North Carolina soccer camps and the UMass Advanced soccer camps.  She is also in her 3rd year as Director of Goalkeeping for John Smith Soccer Camps, a former club coach for Western United FC, and just completed her first year with Starr’s Mill High School Boys JV team.

As a player, Rutland was a member of the W-League Hampton Road Pirahanas (04) which won the Atlantic Conference. In addition, she played in the WPSL for the Massachusetts Stingers (05).  She was a four year letter winner for University of Massachusetts (02-06).  Kristen played for the National Champion 84 Lazers U-19 (03) and the National Finalist 84 AFC Lightning U-18 (02). She was a 5 year ODP player, on the U-16 National ODP team camp roster, and a member of the three-time Georgia High School Soccer Champions, Starr’s Mill High School.

Kristin  graduated from UMass with a BA in English and is an English teacher at Starr’s Mill High School.
