Andy Thompson joined AFC Lightning Soccer Club this past year as the coach for our U-14 Silver Team and Asst. Coach to our U-14 White Team with Coach Chadwick. Andy grew up here in Georgia and played his club soccer here at AFC Lightning for one of our first State Championship Teams.
After Club soccer, Andy played soccer at Mars Hill College for four years, receiving a Bachelors Degree. After graduating from college Andy became the Asst. Coach for Wingate University's Women’s Team. Two years later Andy was offered the position of Head Coach. He held that position for two years until he and his wife decided to move back to Georgia to be closer to their families. While coaching at Wingate Andy also helped with North Carolina’s ODP Program as a Head Coach.
Andy brings a great level of experience to help our Girl’s Program, where he will be able to help and better prepare our girls for high school and college soccer. Andy holds an NSCAA Advanced License.
