Sara Hodgson

Staff Coach

Sara played her youth soccer in Georgia starting at the local Decatur Dekalb YMCA. She later move on to play Athena level soccer with Blue Stars Soccer club and then Stone Mountain Spirit.

Sara also traveled to Japan and Hawaii to promote women’s soccer.

Sara played for her high school soccer team at Atlanta Adventist Academy where she was captain all four years and MVP for two years. During high school she also played for Norcross Magic Athena A under Head Coach Mike Morgan and participate in the college experience program.

Sara went on to play for Troy State University D1 under head Coach John Garvila and finished her college soccer at Wingate University Under Head Coach Gary Curneen where she also received her B.S in Business Management and is a member of Delta Sigma Pi. After College Sara went on to play for the North Carolina Spanish League Division 1 where she was Captain for three years and then for the Atlanta Spanish League Division 1 where she was captain for two years. Due to injury Sara decided to stop playing in 2011 and focus only on coaching.

Prior to AFC lighting Sara coached U-7 boys in Georgia. The Guatemala Spanish Women’s League in NC. And has assisted Kerem Daser at Georgia Military College.
Sara also enjoys doing personal training.

Sara also is an accountant and tax preparer for Better Accounting and Tax when she is not on the field.
