Wilson joined AFC Lightning in 2009. He recently moved to our area from Mississippi. In Mississippi, he was a Director of Coaching at a club, a state coaching instructor, and an Olympic Development Program Head Coach in various age groups for the last several years.

Wilson joined the staff after six years with the Mississippi Olympic Development Program, where he worked with various age groups, and was head coach for the ’90 boys, ’91 girls, and ’96 girls. His success with the Olympic Development Program continues today as many former players are still receiving offers to play in college.

Mark became Director of Coaching at Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association in 2006 and led and recruited 150 recreational coaches, 10 select coaches, and 1200 players. He developed and instructed weekly soccer academy nights with 4 to 14 year old players, and instructed U6-U8 and U10-U12 coaching modules, E and D licenses for the state.

In 2005, Mark became president for Hattiesburg Youth Soccer Association and served for 3 years were he managed the board, Registrar, Legal advisor, and Treasurer. He was tournament director for yearly DI Tournaments, Mississippi Southern District Tournament, and biannually recreational city tournaments, and served as Camp Director.

Since 2004, Mark coached several select teams and has many state championships. In 2007, Mark was awarded Mississippi Soccer Association Girls Select Coach of the Year.

Wilson grew up in Miami, Florida and graduated from Miami Killian before moving on to University of Louisiana in Monroe where he graduated with a BFA, majoring in Advertising Design and has a minor in ceramics and photography. While at University of Louisiana in Monroe, Wilson was awarded a soccer scholarship and was named team captain in his junior year. After Wilson graduated, he moved back to Miami and played semi-pro for 2 years.

Wilson currently holds the United States Soccer Federation "C" License, United States Soccer Federation National Youth License, NSCAA 1 & 2 Goalkeeper Licenses.

Wilson is married with two daughters. His wife, Jan, and two girls, April and Sommer, reside in Fayetteville, GA.
